You look good!

I hope you’re well. It’s been a while since I wrote something here! A few months ago, we needed to find space for the language school’s page, so we used my personal page for our last term’s language courses.

Now the language school’s page has its own space (please see how wonderful the autumn language courses look!) and now I can re-start blogging here again. It feels good to be back!

Today, I’d like to say a few words about new mums. Since recently welcoming a new pair of little feet to our family, I have become one of them (again!). When walking with my little miracle or meeting friends, many people have complimented me with the phrase ‘You look good!’, sometimes with a surprised tone: Hey, a new mum can look beautiful. Those complements reminded me how important it is to take care of myself, even when it’s not always possible (!). Whenever possible I try to treat myself with self-respect and pay attention to my daily routine and rituals to make sure I prepare and eat heart-warming meals, have time to rest, read a good book (a very good companion when breastfeeding!), go to bed early (even just to quietly meditate or read a book), listen to music I like, and move my body (for now it’s walking and doing a happy dance). Today, I’m raising my glass of water to all new mums for your well-being and beauty. Cheers to long milky days!

To all my readers, I hope to write another post soon. Meanwhile, I’d like to wish you a wonderful summer.

Thank you for being my reader.

My extraordinary-ordinary life

My life became so upside-down since becoming a mum for the third time! My baby boy was born in March and since then we started our new journey as a family of 5 (three children + mama and papa ;). People constantly ask me: how is it to be a mum to three children?!? And I think they’re more petrified by the mere idea of having so many children than me actually having them. I so clearly remember asking my friend (a mum to 4 children) the very same question. That was 7 years ago! I wouldn’t think back then that we’ll decide to have a bigger family. Life is fascinating.

We’re slowly out and about, so new travel stories and recommendations to follow from September. Meanwhile, we enjoy our extraordinary-ordinary life, so simple and so rich.

Have a lovely summer, let’s squeeze the best of it 🙂

Travelling corner: Camping with baby

Is it easy? Is it worth doing? Is it manageable? Yes, you ask yourself all those questions before barking upon a family holiday under a tent. It wasn’t easy for me to decide when to go camping for the very first time, so today I’d like to share with you some advice/tips if you plan your first camping trip with the little one.

When: You’ll know when you’re ready and you’ll feel the same about your baby. Just wait and see. I think our baby was around 9 months when we went away camping.

Packing: Start packing early, to make sure you have all the necessary items with you which you can then easily find in the tent.

Time: I would suggest going for a shorter period, e.g. a weekend. We went for 4 days and it was absolutely enough.

Destination: We chose an off-track campsite within a 2-hour drive, but I think I would have preferred to have chosen a more commercial campsite. We didn’t complain, but I think we’d have had a better camping experience if the campsite was more baby-friendly.

Sleep: As I was still breast-feeding at night, I didn’t sleep so comfortably, because I was woken up every couple of hours. I knew the quality of my sleep would be compromised; out of 3 nights, I had one really good night’s sleep (not too bad, huh?).

Activities: Plan as little as possible, as you don’t know how much energy you’ll have left, after cooking, taking care of the children, cleaning up, etc.

Would I repeat it? Oh yes!!! Organisation-wise was a bit challenging, but overall, we had a great time together. And I love sleeping outside, so even with no uninterrupted sleep, I wouldn’t change it for anything!
